Helen Channing is a highly effective, respected and influential educator and leader with a strong record of success throughout a long and varied career within primary education. 

I believe that all children and young people deserve educational experiences of the highest quality - the result of excellence in all classrooms, in all schools, and the consequence of exceptional and visionary leadership. I recognise that leading schools towards excellence is complex, multi-faceted, ever changing and extremely hard work. Leadership can be the best job in the world but can also feel lonely and scary. It can be all consuming and, when imposter syndrome strikes, painting on a smile and being all things to all people can take its toll.

With relentless drive, creativity, tenacity and compassion I create and communicate a compelling vision for success and motivate teams to deliver their best for children, the wider community and beyond. I have a passion for educational research, enquiry and the development of Communities of Practice, appreciating the invaluable role they play in ensuring practice and pedagogy are adapted and relevant to the needs of all learners. I thrive upon professional challenge, demonstrating resilience and innovation during unprecedented circumstances. I lead with integrity and respect, sensitivity and humour, and pride myself upon being a lifelong learner and advocate for children and young people.

After 21 years of primary Headship, I am old enough to have amassed a wealth of leadership skills, knowledge and experience yet young enough to have the drive, passion and energy to utilise them in order to guide and nurture current and future leaders, thus aiding their wellbeing and the strategic development of their schools. 

Helen has a current DBS (available via the online checking service) and will provide photographic ID upon arrival at your school. In addition to her professional qualifications, she has recent, accredited, Safer Recruitment and Designated Safeguarding Lead training.
